The purpose of this documentation is to have a written health and safety program for KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC. that meets or exceeds OHS Legislative requirements. It is intended to provide owners, managers, supervisors, and employees with a clear understanding of potential workplace hazards and procedures implemented to reduce employee illness and/or injury in relation to these hazards.
This documentation also serves as a communication to employees regarding potential workplace hazards and covers the following information:
- Preventing accidents and fires;
- Planning for emergencies and emergency medical procedures;
- Identifying and controlling physical, psychological, biological and chemical hazards in the workplace;
- Maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC. is committed to the health and safety which includes physical, psychological and their social well being of our employees. Where necessary, the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses will be given priority over operating productivity.
Owners, Managers, Supervisors
KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC. owners, managers, and supervisors are responsible for ensuring all employees read and understand this safety policies and procedures manual. It is also the responsibility of the owners, managers, and supervisors to review all incidents and near-miss incidents and make amendments to the safety policies and procedures where necessary. Owners, managers, and supervisors must ensure that any changes to KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC. safety policies and procedures are promptly communicated to all employees.
Employees are responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC. safety policies and procedures as outlined herein. As well to meet or exceed OHS Legislative requirements. Employees are responsible for asking their supervisors questions if they do not fully understand the safety policies and procedures. Any employee who becomes aware of a safety concern is responsible for rectifying the problem in accordance with the procedure(s) outlined in this manual and reporting the incident to an owner, manager, or supervisor.
Contracted Service Providers
KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC expects that all contracted service providers are responsible for the following. Having a health and safety management program as required by Alberta OH&S, participate in Kucher Steels joint workplace health and safety committees when applicable, work collaboratively with Kucher Steels to ensure the health and safety all at the worksite and hold a valid WCB coverage. In addition, contracted service providers are responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all KUCHER STEELS (1992) INC. safety policies and procedures as outlined herein. As well to meet or exceed OHS Legislative requirements. Contacted Service providers are responsible for asking questions if they do not fully understand the safety policies and procedures. Any contracted service provider who becomes aware of a safety concern is responsible for rectifying the problem in accordance with the procedure(s) outlined in this manual and reporting the incident to an Kucher Steels owner, manager, or supervisor.
Kucher Steels - Other Parties Policy
It is the policy Kucher Steels (1992) Inc. to maintain a safe and healthy workplace through the
identification, evaluation and prioritization of hazards in compliance with the current Occupational Health
and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and Company Standards. It is the responsibility of management and supervisors to select appropriate contracted employers and to manage their activities to minimize the degree of risk to themselves, our staff, and the environment. Management and supervisors will be responsible to inform visitors and other persons at or near our work area of the hazards and means use to control them. All visitors (including contracted employers, other workers, self-employed persons or volunteers) will be directed to the company website to watch the visitor safety video. www.kuchersteels.com And will be required to follow all rules and understand and follow emergency response protocol. Evaluation of contracted employers and proper selection will minimize the risk of an incident resulting in loss occurring. Therefore, all contracted employers will be subject to a prequalification review before work commences.
Contracted employers, self-employed persons and other workers are expected to conduct their work safely
and report any potential or existing hazards to management. Noncompliance by any party of any safety rules or policies will result in disciplinary action, up to and including, removal from the work site. Health and Safety information including hazard information, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and inspection forms will be made readily available to all workers. A healthy and safe workplace is everyone’s responsibility. Management is committed to maintaining this
standard and invite you to support and participate in these contracted employer and visitor safety initiatives. Kucher Steels (1992) Inc. will require Other Parties to provide upon request a Clearance Letter from WBC showing coverage up to date as well as a Commercial Certificate of Liability Insurance showing appropriate liability coverage.
Kucher Steels - Other Parties Policy
All Kucher Steels (1992) Inc. safety related policies, safety related forms, SDS, hazard assessments, lock-out forms and safe work practices are available in the Kucher Steels Coffee Room. If unsure of location confirm with any Kucher Steels employee on the location. The available First Aid Responders, evacuation plans and emergency numbers are located through outthe building including the Kucher Steels Coffee Room. At anytime you may contact Management within Kucher Steels with safety concerns.
